The Pet Table Story
I’ve loved animals since I was a little girl growing up in the Dominican Republic. My first true companion was my cat, who stayed by my side for many years. When she passed away, I was devastated. The Dominican is not a wealthy country, and I often wondered—what if I had been able to give her better food? Could she have lived longer, healthier, happier? That question stayed with me, and it became the seed for what would one day become The Pet Table.
Now, we’re a family of seven: two kids, two Rottweilers, one cat, and two humans doing our best to give our pets the life they deserve. Our home is filled with love, laughter, and the occasional bark or meow from Koda (our sweet Rottie girl), Rocky (our loyal Rottie boy), and Venu (our opinionated cat with gourmet taste).
My husband grew up surrounded by Rottweilers—his parents bred them with care and pride. From them, he inherited not only a love for the breed but also a curiosity about their health. Why did so many Rottweilers struggle with hip and joint issues? Why were so many put down far too young, around age 7 or 8? Those questions weighed heavily on him.
As a Biomedical Engineer and Scientist, my husband is trained to solve problems and to think about the body at its deepest levels. So when Rocky began eating less around age 9, he knew it wasn’t just a picky phase. Poor nutrition can trigger a chain reaction of health problems—joint pain, organ stress, and a decline in quality of life.
So together, we went to work.
We created something simple, nourishing, and delicious—food Rocky could enjoy and thrive on. To our surprise, even Venu, our famously picky cat, loved it. That’s when we knew we had something special.
The Pet Table was born from this mission: to give pets food we’d be proud to eat ourselves. Real ingredients. Real nutrition. Real love.
I dedicate this journey to my first cat, who inspired me to dream of better food for pets everywhere, and to Rocky, whose strength and loyalty continue to guide us.
We also dedicate The Pet Table to my mom and stepfather who were among the first to show both of us how to cook with love, intention, and care for pets.
And finally, my husband dedicates The Pet Table to his mother, who has given him everything a son could ever ask for, and to his late father—the man whose whistle could make any dog come running.
❤️ Thank you.
